Hi people. So in all the years I've been using JAWS, I've never heard of there being a home and a professional version, but apparently there is. Furthermore, the computer I'm looking into getting runs Windows XP Professional, which is not compatible with JAWS Home. My question is, is JAWS professional more expensive? Are there a lot of differences between it and Home? ...Would I have more difficulty getting hold of it? Okay, so that's questions, in the plural. lol
Thanks,
Becky
The only difference that I've seen is the price. Professional is more expensive, but (and someone can correct me if I'm wrong) I haven't seen any differences in features.
There are no differences in features that one would notice unless you use the features of pro that aren't in Home. The average user will never dig that deep into windows so thus don't notice the difference. but yeah Pro is more expensive but i don't know if you can't install jaws home or standard or whatever its called on a Pro system and have it still work minus the few parts of windows that you will probably never use.
jaws professional, at least for me, worked on a computer in highschool, that was connected to a very large network, so it could be used on any computer. that's the only thing i knew about it. that's different
Jaws Pro can be used on any computer. The basic Jaws won't work on a Pro system. I tried that.
Correct, jaws standard, and jaws pro, the difference is in the actual license not the software. Jaws standard will only authorize on the home OS, where as pro is cross platform and will authorize on both home, pro, and server operating systems.
Thanks guys.
Well that's going to create some problems. But at least I'm forewarned.

Jaws professional will work on any windows opperating system as aposed to jaws home will only work on home basic or premium versions of windows. Professional is 200 dollars more, best to my knowledge, and the SMA's cost more roughly 60 dollars more for professional.
so unless you need a pro system, go for standard systems. that's my view imho.
